A Waterfront Wedding at Miromar Lakes Beach & Golf Club

Robin and Ryan were married on October 28, 2023, at Miromar Lakes Beach & Golf Club, one of Southwest Florida's most photogenic waterfront venues. Tucked along the water just outside Fort Myers, Miromar Lakes offers a rare combination for a wedding day: a private beach, sweeping lake views in every direction, and manicured grounds that photograph beautifully from sunrise through sunset. With sweeping views across the lake, lush landscaping, and a beach clubhouse practically built for golden-hour light, Miromar Lakes has become one of our favorite venues to shoot a wedding start to finish, and Robin and Ryan's day showed exactly why. From the first look to the last dance, the venue itself did a lot of the heavy lifting in making the day feel effortless.

Getting Ready

Coverage started early, with groom prep beginning at 1:00 PM and bride coverage following at 1:30 PM. Robin and her bridesmaids got ready in a suite overlooking the water, with natural light pouring in through the windows, making it an easy, low-stress space to document the small moments before the day picked up speed: the dress going on, the last text messages, the nervous laughter. Ryan and his groomsmen kept things relaxed on the other side of the property, trading jokes while getting dressed and taking a few portraits of their own before the more formal parts of the day began. By mid-afternoon, both sides of the bridal party were ready, dressed, and buzzing with the kind of energy that only builds as a ceremony gets closer.

The First Look

At 3:00 PM, Robin and Ryan shared a private first look on the grounds at Miromar Lakes, just the two of them before the rest of the day's energy picked up. These quiet, unscripted minutes are consistently some of our favorite to capture, and the lakeside setting gave them a private, almost secluded backdrop away from guests and noise. From there, the full bridal party joined for group portraits at 3:15, followed by bride and groom creatives around the property at 3:45 — the kind of unhurried portrait time that lets a couple's actual personalities show up in the photos instead of just posed smiles. We moved between a few different spots on the property to take advantage of the varied backdrops Miromar Lakes offers, from open lawn to the water's edge.

An Evening Ceremony on the Water

After a quick freshen-up at 4:45, Robin and Ryan exchanged vows at 5:00 PM in a ceremony set against the lake, with two young flower girls, Ava and Isabella, leading the way down the aisle to kick things off. The ceremony itself was intimate and unhurried, with the water as a natural backdrop that needed almost no additional decor to feel complete. Family portraits followed at 5:30, gathering both sides of the family for the traditional formal shots before everyone broke off to enjoy cocktail hour. The property's decor and room reveal came together just after 6:00, giving guests their first look at the fully transformed reception space before the party officially moved inside for the night.

Golden Hour Portraits

Entrance and first dance kicked off at 6:30 PM, but we pulled the couple out just fifteen minutes later for golden hour portraits — consistently one of the most requested moments for couples shooting at Miromar Lakes, and one of the biggest reasons we recommend an evening ceremony timeline at this venue in particular. As the sun dropped over the water, the light turned the kind of warm, saturated gold that does most of the work for a photographer; all we had to do was find the right angle and let the setting do the rest. These fifteen minutes alone produced some of the most striking images from the entire day, and it's a window we plan for on every Miromar Lakes wedding we shoot.

The Reception

Back inside, the reception kicked into gear at 7:15 PM with A DJ With Class keeping the dance floor full from the first song to the last. The energy stayed high throughout the night, with guests moving easily between the dance floor, the bar, and the tables set up along the room's windows overlooking the water. A private cake cutting at 8:15 gave the couple one quiet moment together before the night wrapped with a sparkler send-off at 8:30, guests lined up on either side of the walkway to send Robin and Ryan off as newlyweds under a shower of sparks. Coverage closed out at 9:00 PM, capping a day that moved from quiet morning prep to a full-energy celebration by night.

Vendor Team

Robin and Ryan's day at Miromar Lakes came together with a small, tight vendor team, which made for smooth, easy-to-navigate logistics throughout the entire day. Miromar Lakes Beach & Golf Club handled both the venue itself and in-house catering, which meant one point of contact for the majority of the day's moving pieces. A DJ With Class kept the reception running on schedule and the floor packed from entrance to send-off, reading the room well and keeping the energy consistent all night. Our own John Fusco was behind the camera for the day, capturing everything from the quiet getting-ready moments to the final sparkler exit.
